The sound of youth, restlessness and new beginnings
Young Slovak indie rock band The Spants, coming from Humenné, feels like a story straight out of a fairytale. Step by step, the band has been building its own place on the local music scene. The five-piece lineup — Natália (guitar), Paťo (guitar), Dominika (vocals), Tono (bass), and Samo (drums) — moves somewhere between indie rock and pop rock, with original songwriting and English lyrics serving as their common foundation.
The Spants do not come across as a project created around a table or a calculated attempt to break through. According to the band themselves, their formation happened naturally — all of the members had always shared a close connection to music, and sooner or later that passion evolved into the need to create something of their own.
Naturalness is also the word that best describes the relationships between the members. The chemistry within the band was not formed only in the rehearsal room. The Spants spend a lot of time together outside the band as well — at events, weekend cabins, or simply hanging out as a group of friends.

"We work well together not only during rehearsals, but also in our free time. That's probably why we understand each other musically and why things fit together so naturally," say the band members.
This closeness is reflected directly in their songwriting. Every song is created as a result of collective work, and the band emphasizes that no track would exist without the contribution of every member. While some songs come together quickly and spontaneously, others require much more time and patience. Some even wait several months before being fully completed.
The band also follows a simple principle — compromise. Whenever different opinions arise, they search for a middle ground and try to maintain balance between individual perspectives and the shared vision of the group.
One of the first achievements they are still proud of today is the song "Higher," their very first recorded track, which managed to get played on several Slovak radio stations despite the fact that they were still a young and unknown band at the time. For them, this was proof that their music could resonate beyond their immediate circle of friends and supporters.
The song they currently feel represents them best is "Hesitate," a single from their debut album Almost Too Late. According to the band, this track most clearly points toward the musical direction they want to continue exploring in the future.
One of their strongest live experiences regularly comes during the event Hudba v meste in Košice as part of Use The City. The concept of concerts spread throughout the city's main street creates a unique atmosphere and allows the band to constantly reach new listeners.
At the moment, The Spants are mainly focused on the release show for their debut album Almost Too Late, which will take place on May 30 at History AMC. Although new songs are already being written, their current priority is presenting their debut record live on stage.
The band's musical inspirations balance between older and more modern sounds — as they themselves simply put it, "a bit of both." This openness naturally carries over into their songwriting, which refuses to be confined to a single sonic framework.
Looking ahead, they approach the future with realistic but clear ambitions. Bigger concerts, festivals, new music, singles, and eventually another album all feel like the natural next step.
Today, The Spants represent a band built on friendship, shared energy, and the desire to grow without unnecessary pressure. Their music does not feel like a finished product, but rather a living process — just as natural as the band's own beginning.
