Do the guys from Ružomberok have a chance at one of the biggest festivals in the future?
The band SHROT from Ružomberok was formed by a group of friends who originally met through tribute projects, jam sessions, and playing heavier music together. From their early days of mainly performing cover versions, they gradually and naturally worked their way toward original music, and today they are heading in the direction of a raw hardcore/metal sound.
Their music is created through a combination of spontaneous ideas and collaborative work during rehearsals or at home. They mainly draw inspiration from bands such as Lamb of God, Slayer, and Pantera, and their work is built on energy, simplicity, and intensity. They are not focused on unnecessary complexity, but rather on the raw power and direct impact of the music.
As they themselves say: "Every song is special in its own way. I think 'Svet v ruinách' is technically the most challenging compared to the others — it was quite a challenge, but we managed it."
For SHROT, live shows are essential. They see them as a space where music turns into pure energy, direct connection with the audience, and an atmosphere that can only exist in a live setting. This aspect is just as important to them as the creative process itself.

Looking to the future, they aim to continue performing live, releasing new songs, and naturally progressing toward bigger stages — without unnecessary pressure, step by step. This raises a question that lingers over many local bands: Does a band like this have a chance to one day reach the biggest festival, Wacken Open Air?
Wacken Open Air is one of the biggest metal festivals in the world and a goal that bands typically reach after years of hard work, touring, and building both their name and fanbase. For SHROT, it is still more of a distant symbol than a concrete plan, but we sincerely hope that one day "our dream city Ružomberok" will become iconic in that way.
At the same time, one thing remains clear — every big band started locally. Whether SHROT will one day make it to Wacken will depend mainly on their persistence, live activity, and the support of fans who will continue to push them forward.
