Between Anger and Melancholy: Ravine Turns Emotions into an Explosion of Modern Metalcore

Not every heavy band has to rely solely on aggression. The Italian band Ravine shows that even the heaviest breakdown can carry melancholy, emotion, and a strange kind of beauty hidden within chaos. Their music is not just a mix of influences — it is a mix of feelings.

The two main emotions that define their sound are anger and melancholy. Each track contains heavy sections designed to move a crowd, but at the same time it carries a melodic and emotional layer that doesn't just press the listener down — it pulls them into its own world. A major influence on their latest EP Second Chance was Counterparts, whose balance between aggression and melody they consider the ideal way to express emotion. Modern metal and the melodic hardcore wave around 2010 shaped them the most.

Interestingly, Ravine don't come across as a band trying to follow trends at any cost. Rather, they feel like a group of people constantly trying to understand their own identity. And maybe that's exactly why their music feels so honest.

The most experimental member of the band is said to be guitarist Righez, who brings most of the new influences and ideas into their songs. Their songwriting process has evolved significantly over the years. Their first EP was created mostly spontaneously in rehearsal rooms, but during the recording of Second Chance, the band started working in a more detailed way — preparing pre-productions at home and refining them together during rehearsals. Lyrics are usually written based on the atmosphere of the music, which further emphasizes the emotional layer of their work.

The song they consider their most defining track is The Words Inside Your Silence from the EP ERA: Brighter Days. Fans often return to it, but for the band it means even more — it was the moment they fully realized the direction they wanted their sound to take.

And when it comes to live shows, Ravine turns into a pure explosion of energy.

Their most intense concert took place at the small Garage Club Baladin near Venice. According to the band, the atmosphere was absolutely insane. Crowd surfers were flying through the air so often they stopped counting them. They played on tables among people eating, climbed over bars, and turned the entire venue into one massive chaos.

For Ravine, live shows are the most important part of being a band. They always aim to give 100% energy and involve every single person in front of the stage. It's not just about music — it's about a moment people take home with them.

And the future? It's starting to look bigger and bigger.

The band is gradually fulfilling their own dreams. Soon they will share the stage with names like Architects, letlive., President, and Polar. But despite bigger stages and growing opportunities, their goal remains simple — to see more and more people jumping, shouting, and experiencing the music with them.

Ravine are currently working on new songs that are said to be more aggressive than before, while still keeping their identity rooted in emotion and melancholy. They have already tested one of the new tracks live, and the reaction was reportedly immediate.

And maybe that's exactly where Ravine's strength lies — they can sound brutal, yet deeply human. Like falling into darkness while still being able to see the light ahead.
